How to Find (and Customize) Your Custom Zoom Link
Whether you’re hosting routine catch-ups with clients, virtual hangouts with friends, or impromptu team standups, having a go-to virtual room is essential. Instead of generating a brand-new, random URL every time you want to chat, Zoom provides a permanent virtual space known as your Personal Meeting Room (PMR).
If you are hunting for your permanent link—or want to make it look clean, professional, and easy to remember—here is how to track it down and put your own personal spin on it across desktop, mobile, and web.
Method 1: Finding It on the Zoom Desktop App
If you have the Zoom app installed on your computer, your personal room link is only a couple of clicks away:
- Open and sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
- Click on the Meetings tab at the top (or left-hand side, depending on your app version).
- Look toward the upper-right corner of the window and click on Personal Meeting ID (or select the Personal Room tab).
- A small window will pop up showing your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) and your full Invite Link.
- Click Copy Invitation or manually highlight and copy the URL so you can paste it into texts, emails, or calendar invites.
Method 2: Locating It via the Zoom Web Portal
If you want to view, copy, or completely rewrite your custom link, the Zoom web browser portal offers full administrative control.
- Go to zoom.us in your web browser and Sign In to your account.
- From the left-hand navigation menu, click on Profile.
- Scroll down the page until you find the Personal Link or Personal Meeting ID section.
- Here, you will see your default URL. If you want to change it to something unique (like
zoom.us/my/yourname), click the Customize button next to your Personal Link, type in your desired text, and hit Save Changes. (Note: Custom links depend on availability and cannot be claimed if another user already has them).
Method 3: Finding It on the Mobile App (iOS / Android)
On the go and need to drop your link into a quick Slack or WhatsApp message?
- Open the Zoom mobile app and sign in.
- Tap on the Meetings tab at the bottom menu.
- Tap on the Personal room area or look for the information/settings icon in the top right.
- Your full personal invitation link will be displayed right there. Tap Send Invitation or Copy to Clipboard to share it instantly.
Quick Tips for Using Your Permanent Link
- Keep Security in Mind: Because your personal link never changes, anyone who has it can technically try to drop into your room whenever it’s active. To prevent uninvited guests, make sure to enable Waiting Rooms or lock the meeting once your participants have arrived.
- Not for Every Meeting: Use your custom personal link for casual, recurring, or instant get-togethers. For formal, highly confidential, or back-to-back scheduled meetings, it’s still best to generate unique, standalone meeting IDs so meetings don’t accidentally overlap.
